Overview

The National Cluster is comprised of researchers tackling projects which are national in scope or special regional projects. Our projects range from co-operative approaches to alternative energy production to documenting the 170 year history of the Sussex Co-operative (Sussex and Studholm Agricultural Society).

Our structure

Like all Clusters in the Measuring the Co-operative Difference Research Network, we have active participation from both academic and community partners. Our collaborative approach strives to produce research with academic integrity that is also applicable to co-operatives (measurement, collaboration, development and environmental practices).

The Cluster is collaboratively lead by a co-operative as well as academic lead:

Quintin Fox, Community Co-Lead, National Cluster

 Quintin Fox

Quintin is the Director of Consultancy and Training at the Canadian Co-operative Association. He has worked both in Europe and Canada on a number of co-operative, rural development, social research and consultancy projects. He is currently leading the development of CCA's new training and consultancy arm, the Research, Education and Co-operation Hub (REACH).

Dr. Luc Thériault, Academic Co-Lead, National Cluster

Luc is a Professor of Sociology at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. He has been trained as a sociologist both in the French and Anglo-American traditions. His field of expertise is social policy and third sector studies. He has considerable experience doing survey research on non-profit organizations and co-operatives in Canada, including "A Portrait of Co-operatives and Credit Unions in Atlantic Canada" with Ron Skibbens and Dr. Leslie Brown (2008).
